Personal Branding Story: Annie, Founder of Unmask Your Mind

Tell us about what you do:

I run Unmask Your Mind, a platform dedicated to empowering neurodivergent individuals and individuals who have gone through trauma and other situations by providing skills, information, resources, and advocacy. I also have a podcast, the Unmask Your Mind podcast, providing information and real life stories. My mission is to destigmatize mental health challenges and normalize neurodiversity, trauma, mental health by offering culturally responsive care and promoting awareness. I work with children, adolescents, adults, and their loved ones, helping them navigate trauma, anxiety, and other challenges.

What projects are you working on now?

1. Developing a mindfulness-based course to help clients and professionals better understand neurodivergent experiences.

2. Developing a mindfulness-based course to help clients and professionals better understand trauma and how to start over. We can all start over.

3. Expanding the podcast.

Why was this photoshoot important to you?

This photoshoot marked a pivotal moment in my journey of personal and professional unmasking. It was a celebration of authenticity, showcasing the person behind the mission of Unmask Your Mind. These images help convey the story of resilience and empowerment that I want to share with my clients and audience.

How do you plan on using your photographs?

I plan to use the photographs on my website, social media, and promotional materials for courses and webinars. They’ll also be featured in any professional profiles or publications related to my work, ensuring my brand visually aligns with its mission.

What drew you to Lakesha Miner? Why did you choose her to photograph you?

I was drawn to Lakesha Miner because of her ability to capture authenticity and emotion in her work. She has a talent for creating images that tell a story, and I knew she could portray the essence of Unmask Your Mind.

What was your experience working with her?

Working with Lakesha was incredible! She made me feel at ease and truly understood the vision I had for this shoot. Her ability to create a comfortable and collaborative atmosphere made the session enjoyable and rewarding.

What was the biggest takeaway from your photoshoot?

The biggest takeaway was the power of embracing vulnerability. This experience reminded me of the strength in showing up as your true self and trusting someone to capture that authenticity.

What advice would you give other people thinking of doing a photoshoot with Lakesha?

Go for it! Trust her process and don’t be afraid to bring your whole self to the session. Lakesha has a unique way of making you feel seen and understood, so just relax and let her capture the real you.

Bonus!! What advice would you give your 20 year old self?

I’d tell my 20-year-old self to embrace her neurodivergence instead of hiding it. It’s okay to take up space, make mistakes, and prioritize your own happiness. The journey is messy, but every step matters.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know about?

Unmask Your Mind is not just a business but a community and a mission. I’m passionate about collaboration and always looking for ways to partner with others who share a vision for mental health advocacy, neurodiversity awareness, and empowering marginalized communities.
