THE OVER 40 Experience

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 40 OVER 40 EXPERIENCE?

The participation fee is $490 (plus MD state tax). The fee not only holds your date and allows us to book the makeup artist for your shoot, it also covers the consultation, photoshoot, a $300 credit towards any image collections, and inclusion in the Fabulous Over 40 magazine.

WHAT DOES THE $490 INCLUDE?

• Wardrobe and Pre-consultation: I will guide you on what to wear and you can borrow from my client closet. We will also discuss your expectations and goals for the photoshoot.

• Makeover: Makeup (includes lashes) on the day of the photo shoot by one of my professional makeup artists (you will feel amazing!).

• Photoshoot: Fully guided professional photo shoot where I will pose you down to your most authentically beautiful expressions.

• A $300 credit towards the purchase of a collection. This will be my gift to you for participating. Fine art portraits start at $250 and value based collections start at $1900. Most clients end up loving all of their images and purchase additional portraits and luxury products.

• Inclusion in the magazine: Your selected portrait will also be included in the magazine in which you’ll receive a copy.

• An invitation to a social event to meet and network with the other participants.

  
  

WHAT IF I WANT TO PURCHASE ALL MY PHOTOGRAPHS?

Absolutely! When you see all of the stunning images we have created for you, you'll probably want them all! Photographs are $250 each, but the more you buy, the more you save. You can save by purchasing collections. The more you buy, the cost goes down. Our packages with 10 images start at $1900 + tax and go up from there. We do take credit cards and offer payment plans as well.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR PRODUCTS FOR SALE

I offer beautiful products to store and display your new photographs, including matted prints, albums, folio boxes and wall art. My most popular item is a glass-front wooden box, hand crafted in Ireland, which sits on your mantel or bookshelf to show off your new matted prints. It's like a living frame, where you may swap out the photo in the front at any time.

WHERE DOES THE PHOTOSHOOT TAKE PLACE?

My portrait studio is in Silver Spring, MD.

WHAT DAYS DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE FOR THIS SHOOT?

We have time slots available for shoots Mondays—Fridays from 10:30am—2pm, by appointment only, through September 2024. Availability is on a first come first served basis. On your phone chat with Lakesha, she will share next available dates and make sure to find an opening that works for you. If you are SUPER EXCITED to participate but just can't possibly make those times work let's chat about your availability. I want to be as inclusive as possible for this project but I am working around my makeup artist's schedule, too. We will do our best to accommodate you.

WHY ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS PROJECT?

I believe there's no expiration date on being a fabulous, happy, fulfilled, and vibrant woman. You inspire me. Your story inspires me. You show me and our society the truth-- that a woman just gets better with time, like a fine wine! I am a huge believer in women's empowerment. There aren't enough platforms for women over 40 to share their story and their beauty.

I'M NOT PHOTOGENIC. IS THAT OK?

Whoa, stop right there! I simply don't believe in "photogenic." It's my job as the photographer to make you look and feel amazing! And lucky for you, I am a trained master at making women of all ages, shapes and sizes look amazing in photographs.

WHAT WILL I WEAR?

You can wear up to 3 different outfits in your photoshoot. We have a collection of boudoir related items for you to play DRESS UP! Or, you can be casual in jeans and a black or white shirt. You can wear a sun dress. You can wear a fancy cocktail dress or jumpsuit. You can wear yoga clothes. You could even wear lingerie or your birthday suit. There's no rules. This is up to you! I want to photograph you based on YOUR VISION.

I'M WORRIED ABOUT NOT LIKING ANY OF MY IMAGES.

I totally understand! Many of us clam up and just freeze when a camera (or phone) is pointed in our direction. I understand how a group photo or even a selfie can make you think you’re not photogenic. However, what sets this process apart is that you'll be working with a professional photographer who understands lighting, posing, wardrobe, and retouching. I’ve never had a client who didn't love their images, and most of the time, they end up purchasing more than they planned because they fall in love with more images than they expected.

WHAT IF I'D LIKE TO INCLUDE MY CHILDREN, PARTNER, PET OR FAMILY?

Certainly! You can definitely include loved ones in your shoot! Extra make up is $150 per person (if needed). Part of your story is the people (and furry pets) you love. So if you want to include your loved ones, the more the merrier. And you also have total permission to make this photoshoot just about YOU!

CAN YOU DO MY HAIR?

Yes! My makeup artist is also a professional hairstylist. She can do quick styles that take 15-25 minutes. Styles like loose curls, updos, taming frizz and rough edges. Please come with your hair wash, dried, and detangled. The additional fee to add on hair styling is $150.

CAN I REFER A FRIEND OVER 40 TO ALSO BE A PART OF THIS PROJECT?

Yes! I would love to also have your friends be a part of this project! Please spread the word.

WHAT IF I BOOKED MY DATE & PAID $490 AND THEN HAVE TO RESCHEDULE?

I totally understand that life happens! I do book my makeup artist's time to be at your photoshoot. Therefore, you are allowed one reschedule more than 7 days out from the shoot at no charge. If we have less than 7 days notice (or this is the second time you need to reschedule) we do charge a $100 rescheduling fee.

HOW ARE YOU CHOOSING WHO PARTICIPATES?

We aren't "choosing" anyone. Every woman's story is inspiring. Every woman is beautiful. So we aren't going to exclude anyone who wants to be involved. Basically, this project is first come, first served. If you are willing to connect with Lakesha for a "get to know you" call, pay your $490 participation fee, book your date, are over 40 (or turning 40 this year) you can be a part of the shoot! YAY! The other limit is that we only have 40 spots available. Once we hit 40 women, we will create a waitlist of interested women.

I’M ON A STRICT BUDGET. IS THIS FOR ME?

I am very transparent with pricing, products and options, so you will know what type of investment to expect when working with me. I accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If you need to pay over time, you may utilize payment plan options through Affirm and PayPal Credit.
